For any readers in Michigan, I'll be in Ann Arbor tomorrow and Friday.
First, I'll be speaking at the Shaman Drum bookstore Thursday evening, 7:00. It will not be a "reading" - I'm not exactly sure if I could do that even if tried! But I'll be talking about my book and taking questions on whatever is on peoples' minds.
Then on Friday, I'm taking part in a small workshop on the Arab media organized by Larry Pintak, director of the Adham Center at AUC, at the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Michigan. There doesn't seem to be any information about it online, but in addition to me and Larry participants include Phil Seib, Ambassador Bill Rugh, Juan Cole, and Alberto Fernandez (of the State Department). Mona Eltahawy was supposed to be there, but isn't on the final schedule so I guess not.
Please come and see me if you're in the area! I may blog if I can get the time and the computer access, though can't guarantee anything... oh, how the lure of a laptop of this modern world, complete with wireless, calls out to me on these trips. Oh well, someday.
Did anyone hear me on San Francisco public radio this morning?
Abu Aardvark, Juan Cole and Mona on the same panel, that would really have been something! You where both great at Doha, eventough being on opposite sides.
