Three Algerian journalists have been sentenced to prison for "insulting the President and the security forces." Journalist Kamal Amrani and a cartoonist got six months, and editor Fouad Abu Ghanim two months, along with hefty fines for all of them. The sentences were described by the defendants' lawyers as unusually harsh. Meanwhile, Mohammed Benchicou is still in jail, as is Farid Alilat.
