That's very flattering, but doesn't explain why the U.S. supported the Lebanese-Israeli cease fire last year that preserved Hezbollah.

Israel was getting its ass kicked and wanted to run away, but they didn't want to APPEAR to be running away. So, Bush gave them their "exit strategy", in the form of fake U.S. pressure.
