I should be back tomorrow.
Thanks to Juan Cole for a nice plug in his Salon piece about al-Jazeera (the book, alas, is not actually "just published" - it prints next week, should be available for purchase by mid-January; my essay "Watching al-Jazeera" in The Wilson Quarterly will have to do until then).
Anyway, tomorrow I hope to have something to say about some very interesting Arab press discussions that the "bombing al-Jazeera" story have prompted. I also hope to say something about the new Jordanian government. I hope to say something about Bush's new Iraq strategy (which seems to be another case of "recycled second rate wingnut blogging", if early reviews are anything to go by). I'd certainly like to talk about the LA Times story on American propaganda feeds in the Iraqi press. All this, and I'd like to get another half-dozen urgent items off my desk. And, of course, I'd like a pony.
