Music Shuffle

Matt Yglesias offers a new time waster, and others hop on the wagon:  open up your music library, hit random shuffle, and list the first ten songs that come up.  Since I have no time to waste, horribly so, here we go:

1.  Miles Davis, Diane.
2.  Elvis Costello, Rocking Horse Road
3.  Liz Phair, Help Me
4.  The Loud Family, Crypto-Sicko
5.  Portishead, Roads
6.  John Coltrane, Don't Blame Me
7.  Game Theory, Chardonnay
8.  U2, Wild Honey
9.  U2, Out of Control (live, from the 2001 Madison Square Garden concert)
10.  Aimee Mann, This is How it Goes

How totally uninteresting!

Who doesn't like time-wasting blog fads? Just like Ezra, Matthew, Abu Aardvark, and Brad open your iTunes, hit shuffle, and tell us the first ten songs that come up. But I won't pile on the Anti-"Sound of Settling" by Brad... [Read More]

Pretty good taste, for an aardvark. But is Brutal Youth any good? I tend to studiously avoid E.C. after the mid-80s or so. My own iPod mix is mostly rap at the moment, as I have yet to load my jazz and classical stuff.

Game Theory! Holy crap, I thought I was the only person left in this universe that liked them. Wow, thanks for the jolt back in time.

not only game theory but the loud family, the band that the remains of game theory became, as well. well done.

Game Theory and The Loud Family... my favorite band(s) that nobody else seems to have heard of. That is GREAT that at least two of you out there know and like them! When (if) my man Scott Miller releases the new disc that he tells me he's working on, be sure to buy it and tell all your friends! And send everyone to www.loudfamily.com to buy their self-distributed products.

Brutal Youth, like most of Elvis's post-prime stuff, is inconsistent with some flashes of greatness. Personally, I love "Pony Street", "Sulky Girl" and "London's Brilliant Parade; and most of the rest of it is at least fun, if not timeless. I'd put it in the upper echelon of his post-greatness albums.
