Bahrain Protests

I would be remiss to not point yet again to Chan'ad Bahraini's incredible ongoing coverage of the protests in Bahrain over the arrest of human rights campaigner Abd al Hadi al Khawaja.  It's all too rare to get such a textured, nuanced, and intimate presentation of the dynamics of protest and contentious politics in the Arab world.

This category link offers full coverage. Recent posts of particular interest include...

Hooligans ruin a legitimate protest.

Peaceful Protest Makes a Point.

The Irony of Freedom.

Great stuff, and an important example of popular contentious politics in the Arab world which has received remarkably little attention.
